VOLUNTEER WITH VINNIES SOUP VANS TO GIVE A HAND UP AND CONTRIBUTE TO GOOD WORKS
About Us
The Soup Van Program is a Special Work of the State Council of the St Vincent de Paul Society. Currently operating from Berwick, Melton, South Eastern Soup Van, Western Soup Van, Inner City Soup Van, Moe Soup Van and Traralgon Soup Van. We have more than 900 dedicated volunteers grouped into teams and headed by a soup van volunteer leader for each operation. More than 780 000+ meals are served annually, and the soup vans run 365 days a year – rain, hail, or shine. Volunteers, known as Vannies, provide soup, sandwiches, fruit and other food and drinks at public locations advertised on our website, as well as at boarding and rooming houses, crisis accommodation, social housing, and other residential locations.
The primary aim of our soup van program is to offer food, social connection, and referral pathways out of homelessness and poverty, to people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness and disadvantage.
Are you well organised? Do you have a passion for supporting the vulnerable in the community? Then this role is for you!
What will I be doing?
This volunteering opportunity varies from preparing and packing food, picking up or receiving deliveries and other shifts that involve delivering food on a Soup Van Run to those needing our assistance in boarding houses, public housing, or on the street.
