  New Volunteers to assist our Soup Van Team during our afternoon and evening shifts.

 

 

About Us

The Soup Van Program is a Special Work of the State Council of the St Vincent de Paul Society. Currently operating from Berwick, Dandenong, Endeavour Hills, Footscray, Inner City, Melton and Traralgon. We have more than 900 dedicated volunteers grouped into teams and headed by a soup van volunteer leader for each operation. More than 550,000 meals are served annually and the soup vans run 365 days a year – rain, hail or shine. Volunteers provide soup, sandwiches, fruit and other food and drinks at public locations advertised on our website, as well as boarding and rooming houses, crisis accommodation, social housing and other residential locations. 

The Role

A number of new positions have become available for volunteers who can provide food and friendship to the homeless community in the area of Traralgon as part of our soup van program.

The primary aim of our soup van program is to offer food, social connection, and referral pathways out of homelessness and poverty, to people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness and disadvantage.

 

 

Are you well organised? Do you have a passion for supporting the vulnerable in the community?

 

Then this role is for you!

We currently have shifts in preparing and packing food, picking up or receiving deliveries and other shifts that involve delivering food to those needing our assistance in boarding houses, public housing or on the street.

 

Current Opportunities

Food prep shifts:

Friday 3:00pm-4.30pm

Food delivery shifts:

Friday 5:00pm-8:00pm

 

 

Eligibility

To be eligible to volunteer in this role, you will need to be able to complete a Police Check, have a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a Food Safety Certificate will also be required, but we can assist you with this if you don’t have it.
