Become a Custody Centre Welfare Program Volunteer

When & Where: Fortnightly Roster. Monday to Friday at the Melbourne Custody Centre (Near Flagstaff Station).

 

The Good Works you will be involved inIn this program, Vinnies staff and volunteers offer welfare support, make phone calls and offer a nonjudgmental listening ear to individuals held in Melbourne Custody Centre. We are always looking for suitable volunteers to join our unique program. Vinnies staff guide all volunteers through an interview process, a full training day at the Melbourne Custody Centre and on the job trainings, as well as other professional development opportunities. Through the External Assistance Program (EAP) Vinnies provide trauma informed ongoing support to all volunteers. All applicants must pass a Victoria Police NPC and fingerprint process (We arrange both Victoria Police NPC and fingerprint process for all registered volunteers).

 

Melbourne Custody Centre trainings for registered volunteers are scheduled on the following days and you can register for one of them:

  • Monday, 26 August 2024
  • Monday, 28 October 2024

 

Requirements: No previous experience is required! If you have a passion for giving a 'hand up' to individuals experiencing disadvantage, a positive attitude, want to make new friends, then we’d love to hear from you! A Working with Children’s Check and Police Check are required before you commence and are arranged and paid for by Vinnies.
